Mango is a South Asian domesticate; the sugar-mango cultivar thrives on Colombia's Caribbean coast, especially around Ciénaga.
Elsewhere in the world: Also grown in India, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, the Philippines and Pakistan.
Palm-sized, yellow-gold, thin-skinned. Silky orange flesh, minimal fiber, big flavor. The skin is so thin that many locals eat it whole after a quick rinse.
Honey and pine — heady when ripe.
As advertised: concentrated mango syrup. Best-in-class sweetness with enough acid to stay interesting.
Sweetness: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mango sap/skin can irritate lips of people with cashew-poison-ivy family allergies.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best mango experience Colombia offers.
